About Me 2007-11-24, 10:20 p.m.
Name: Serina, but everyone calls me Rina or Rena. Either spelling is fine. I like my name. I think it's pretty. Plus it's really easy to spell in Japanese!! :D
Birthday: I was born on October 8th in 1984. That would make my astrological sign Libra. It would also make my Chinese Zodiac sign The Rat. Most of the time, my horoscope is pretty much dead on.
Location: I have lived in Michigan my entire life. When I was an infant my family lived in Grand Blanc. When I was a toddler, we lived in Flint. When I was 6 years old we moved to Burton, and we've been there ever since. I only had to switch schools once. I got incredibly lucky.
Education: I graduated with honors in 2002. At the time my GPA was a 3.56. I was rather proud of myself. The only class I ever failed was algebra. It seems to be a running theme with me. I started going to community college in the fall of 2004. I'm basically just trying to get my Associates in Arts since it's transferable. Then my big goal is to go to a university so that I can get a bachelor's in business.
Work History: I've held the same job since I was 16 years old. I work at Kmart. I started out part time, then I became a department manager, then after 2 years I demoted myself so that I could go back to school. Now I'm trying to become a department manager again. It shouldn't be long before I find out. Right now I'm working full time hours in the electronics department because of some miscommunication between store managers. Honestly, I'm quite content.
Personality: What can I really say? I'm usually shy and quiet until I get to know you. However that's starting to change for some reason. I think my confidence is starting to build up or something. Normally I'm a total goofball. I like to play around and rough house with my friends. I have a rather sarcastic sense of humor. I can be pretty cynical sometimes, but I like to focus on positive things as much as humanly possible. I'm not a prude, but I'm not immoral either. I know the difference between right and wrong. I can feel it in my gut.
Spirituality: I don't like church. I never have. I was raised in a Baptist church, and I always dreaded Sunday's. That's not to say that I don't believe in a higher being, I just don't find it necessary to prove myself to my God by attending gatherings on the weekend. That's not how you get to Heaven. You get there by what you do in life. By the type of person that you are. It's all about treating the people that cross your path in the same way that you'd like to be treated.
Friends: My friends are basically my extended family, since most of them seem to be related to each other anyway... I've known my best friend for about 7 years now. We were introduced by our now mutual arch enemy. It's like we were separated at birth. We think the same thoughts. We finish each other's sentences, and we even eat our Kit Kat's the same way. You'd think we were twins or something.
Relationships: Scare the hell out of me. I just got out of a 4 year relationship with someone that I'll never speak to again. Prior to that, I dated randomly. I only had one other somewhat serious relationship while I was in high school. He's married now, and he's still one of my closest friends.
Dreams: I've always had this dream that I was going to be a famous romance novelist. I mostly want to focus on the paranormal aspect of it. I love the unexplainable and the unbelievable mixed in with a steamy hot romance. It's just so much fun to read. I've also got this more realistic goal of opening up a little hole-in-the-wall Japanese pop culture store. I think I'd make a lot of money, plus it would just be a fun place to work with my friends--since they all love the idea of it. :P
Japan: I've always been intrigued by the culture, but things really started getting serious for me back in late 2005. I have Gackt to blame for it since I stumbled across him while researching some Final Fantasy things. From there it just grew into this full blown obsession with me. I actually listen to more JROCK and JPOP than I do American music. I've started reading manga's and watching anime on a constant basis. Now I have this serious love for Japanese film too. I'm constantly on the lookout for imported DVD's. One day I hope to be able to travel to Tokyo with friends. I think my life would be complete then. I also took a class on the Japanese language and have been teaching myself ever since. I'm quite the junkie for new fashion trends as well. Basically, I ♥ Japan.
Music: Music is my whole world. My life has quite the soundtrack actually. I keep track of years by when certain songs were released. It's that bad. I could spend all day trying to type out all of the bands and singers that I listen to. I don't think it would do this section any good because it would just make you cross eyed. Let's just say that my tastes are REALLY eclectic. However, I can say that the two bands that I listen to the most are the GazettE, and The Exies. (With L'Arc~en~Ciel coming in at a close third.)
Television: Honestly, I don't really watch it all that often. I usually just download the anime's that I like and watch them on my computer. I guess I watch Adult Swim, Mindfreak, Ghost Hunters, and House a lot though, but that's pretty much it.
Film: I like a few genres. I'm into dark/macabre romances, vampire flicks, cheesy slasher flicks from the 80's, chick flicks, and superhero movies. I've recently gotten into Japanese and Korean horror flicks as well.
Video Games: I'm quite the gaming enthusiast. I LOVE RPG's. I'm a Final Fantasy lunatic actually. That's probably all you need to know as far as that goes.
Food: Food is awesome! I love to cook too! I make the most incredible oatmeal chocolate chip cookies in the entire world!!!!! As far as my tastes go, I really dig anything Italian. I'm a pasta freak. I don't really eat a lot of red meat...um...liver and brussel sprouts gross me out.
Clothes/Make-up/Jewelry: I'm really into Visual/Oshare Kei, and Gothic Lolita fashions. Although I don't really have a big enough budget to work with to really attain the look that I want, I usually make up for the lack of trendy clothes with really stellar make-up. As for jewelry, I'm addicted to sterling silver and just about anything brightly colored and plastic. *shrugs*
